The requirements for citizens of Mauritius to travel to China upon visa exemption

The Agreement on Mutual Visa Exemption between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Mauritius (Hereinafter referred to as "Agreement") was signed in Port Louis on 29 August 2013 and will enter into force on 31 October 2013.

1. Thereafter, citizens of Mauritius who intend to stay no longer than 30 days after entry into the territory of China, shall be exempted from visa requirement. But the following documents are required:

(1) Original passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity;

(2) Round trip air ticket booking record;

(3) Proof of a hotel reservation;

(4) Sufficient funds

2. According to the Agreement, citizens of Mauritius who intend to study, work, reside or engage in media activities or for any purpose to be determined and agreed by China and Mauritius in the territory of China, shall apply for a visa; officials of or above the level of Permanent Secretary of the central government and officers of or above the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police and Chief Executive Officers of the Government of Mauritius shall obtain the prior consent of the Government of China before their travel to China for official purposes.

3. Citizens of Mauritius who, upon visa exemption, intend to stay longer than 30 days in China, should apply to the exit/entry administration of public security organ under the local people's government at or above the county level in the place of his stay seven days prior to the expiry of the duration, but the accumulated length of extension shall not exceed 30 days.

4. Citizens of Mauritius are supposed to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius when they encounter problems in getting aboard or entering into China. the Embassy of China in Mauritius will provide necessary assistance at request by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade of Mauritius.
