On September 15, 2021, Ambassador Zhu Liying paid a courtesy call on Mr. Steven Obeegadoo, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Land Use Planning and Minister of Tourism of Mauritius. The two sides exchanged views on deepening China-Mauritius friendly relations and expanding practical cooperation in various fields.

Mr. Obeegadoo said that China and Mauritius have a long history of friendship and thanked China for its long-term help and support for the development of Mauritius. At present, more than 60% of the population of Mauritius has completed two doses of vaccinations. The border will be opened from October 1st, and Chinese tourists are welcome to travel to Mauritius. Mauritius is willing to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in the fields of tourism, urban planning and construction, and bring more benefits to the two peoples. Mr. Obeegadoo emphasized that it's grateful that the Chinese Government provides strong support for vaccines so that the vaccine coverage rate of Mauritius could rank among the top in the world.

Ambassador Zhu congratulated Mauritius on the smooth progress of vaccination work and expressed his appreciation. He said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mauritius, bilateral relations have always been moving forward steadily. China attaches great importance to China-Mauritius relations and will continue to support the economic and social construction of Mauritius, helping the economic recovery after COVID-19. There is broad space for cooperation between China and Mauritius, the Chinese Government is looking forward to further strengthening communication and cooperation with Mauritius, continuously expanding areas of cooperation, and pushing China-Mauritius friendly cooperative relations to a new level.
