Ambassador ZHU Liying Meets with Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development of Mauritius

On October 19, 2021, Ambassador ZHU Liying met with Mr. Renganaden Padayachy, Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development of Mauritius. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening practical cooperation in various fields.

Mr. Padayachy said it’s grateful that the Chinese government has provided great help to Mauritius for fighting against the epidemic. Because of China's strong support for vaccines that Mauritius could be able to promote the National Vaccination Campaign and open the border on October 1 as scheduled. Hoping that the Chinese Government could continue to pay attention to the economic and social development of Mauritius and give its support. The Government of Mauritius is looking forward to further strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China in the fields of infrastructure construction, bio-pharmacy, finance, and digital economy. 

Ambassador ZHU said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the bilateral friendly relations have continued to deepen and practical cooperation in various fields has yielded fruitful results. After the China-Mauritius Free Trade Agreement came into effect at the beginning of this year, the bilateral economic and trade exchanges have grown substantially, bringing tangible benefits to the people of the two countries. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mauritius. China is willing to work with Mauritius to take a long-term view and jointly plan a blueprint for the development of bilateral relations, so as to lay a more solid foundation for closer friendly cooperation between the two countries.
