    In order to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and people around the world and promote China’s exchange and cooperation with other countries in various fields, the Chinese government sets up scholarships for talented students and scholars to pursue higher education or conduct research in Chinese universities.The Bilateral Program accords with the cooperation and exchange agreements or consensus reached by the Chinese government and the governments and institutions of other nations. It is open to undergraduates, postgraduates, general and senior scholars.The Chinese Government Scholarship Bilateral Program for the year 2023/2024 is jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in Mauritius and the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology in Mauritius ( hereinafter referred to as “Mauritian Ministry of Education”). The process of selection of scholarship recipients has already started; interested candidates who satisfy the requirements are kindly invited to contact the Mauritian Ministry of Education for application.

1. Application procedures for Chinese Government Scholarship

1)The Chinese Embassy in Mauritius has already consigned the Mauritian Ministry of Education with specific guidelines in carrying out the process of selection of scholarship recipients. Interested candidates are kindly advised to check with the public announcement of the concerned Ministry, and submit their applications to the Scholarship Section. Applicants need to follow the procedures given by the Ministry strictly to be eligible for a recommendation.The Chinese Embassy in Mauritius shall not accept any personal application.

2)The Scholarship Bilateral Programsponsors undergraduates, postgraduates, general and senior scholars. Travel expenses shall be borne by the scholarship recipients themselves. Applicants can learn about Chinese universities and majors they offer by visiting the schoolswebsites or http://www.campuschina.org.

3)The applicant needs to contact the designated university for admission documents. In the case whereby the applicant cannot provide the admission documents before the application deadline, the China Scholarship Council cannot guarantee enrolment from the school.

4)The applicant shall fill in and submit the Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship online via the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System(http://www.campuschina.org), and then print out the Application Form for China Government Scholarship.

5)All required documents should be submitted to the Scholarships Section at the Ministry of Education before the deadline.

6)Applicants can check the Chinese Government Scholarship website (www.campuschina.org) to learn more about the scholarship program offered, the application process and get more information on educational institutions in China.

2. Qualification for scholarship and enrolment

(1) The Chinese Embassy in Mauritius shall strictly review the recommended candidates list and their application documentssubmitted by the Mauritian Ministry of Education, and shall submit them to the CSC and designated universities to examine applicants’ eligibility and academic performance before finalizing the short-listed candidates. The Chinese Embassy shall refuse to accept any application material which does not meet the requirements.

(2) The recipient of the Chinese Government Scholarship may not receive and enjoy other scholarships provided by the Chinese government both at the same time. Once discovered, the qualification for the Chinese Government Scholarship will be revoked.

(3) The Chinese Embassy in Mauritius will notify both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education about the admission results by Note Verbale and subsequently will have the short-listed applicants informed.

(4) In the event where the scholarship recipient cannot reach the school in time for registration, and without prior approval from the designated university, the scholarship shall be revoked.
