Ambassador Sun Gongyi Sends a Letter to WHO Representative in Mauritius

On April 17, Ambassador Sun Gongyi sent a letter to Dr. Musango, WHO representative in Mauritius, highly commending the important role played by WHO under the leadership of Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director- General of WHO in the global fight against Covid-19, and expressing support and appreciation to Dr. Musango and the WHO office in Mauritius for their efforts in the fight against the epidemic in Mauritius. The full text of the letter in English is as follows:


Dear Dr Musango, 

As we all have our attention drawn to the seriousness of the outbreak of COVID-19, I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the World Health Organization for playing an irreplaceable role in responding to this global public health crises. Under the leadership of Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO has been actively fulfilling its duty and playing as a central coordinator in advancing global anti-pandemic cooperation. China will continue to support WHO's important role in advancing the global public health cause and in the global fight against the pandemic.

The Chinese Embassy in the Republic of Mauritius has been working closely with your office on the outbreak since January 2020. We highly appreciate the professional assistance you offered as well as your relentless efforts in helping Mauritius address the complex challenges posed by COVID-19. The Embassy is willing to maintain communication and cooperation with you.
