On May 22, Ambassador Sun Gongyi speaks with President Roopun of Mauritius on the phone, and the two sides exchanged views on topics such as Sino-Mauritian cooperation in fighting Covid-19.

President Roopun congratulated China on its achievements in the fight against the virus and the ongoing two sessions of the National People's Congress and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, saying that after the outbreak of Covid-19 in Mauritius the Mauritian government took various measures to put the epidemic effectively under control and gradually bring economic and social life to normality, and extending gratitude to various departments of China for their substantial support in the fight against Covid-19 in Mauritius, and especially expressing gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in Mauritius for its large amount of coordination work. As the epidemic is still spreading around the world, it is of great necessity for all the countries to unite and cooperate in order to return to normal life as soon as possible.

Ambassador Sun Gongyi noted that China and Mauritius enjoy traditional friendship and the two countries have achieved fruitful cooperation in the fight against the virus. During the epidemic crisis, the leaders and people of both countries interacted closely and supported each other, which demonstrated the profound friendship between the two countries. Currently, both China and Mauritius have achieved remarkable achievements in containing the spread of the epidemic. China will continue to provide assistance to Mauritius within its capacity. It is hoped that pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in various fields will continue to yield results after the epidemic crisis.
