Ambassador Sun Gongyi Meets with New Managing Committee Members of the United Chinese Associations in Mauritius

On August 27th, Ambassador Sun Gongyi met with Eric Lim, new President of the United Chinese Associations and its main managing committee members at the Chinese Embassy. Political Counselor Gong Yufeng was also present at the meeting.

Ambassador Sun Gongyi extended congratulations to the new managing committee members of the United Chinese Associations and highly commended the United Chinese Associations for actively organizing social activities, underscoring that the United Chinese Associations have proactively engaged in the economic and social development of Mauritius for many years, which has contributed a lot to the social welfare. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the United Chinese Associations have taken an active part in the fight and prevention against the virus, doing their utmost to help people in need and demonstrating the positive energy of the Chinese communities in Mauritius. As one of the important bonds of the friendly relations between China and Mauritius, the United Chinese Associations have consistently and firmly supported the construction and development of their home country, making positive contributions to the economic, trade and cultural exchanges between China and Mauritius as well as the promotion of friendship between the two peoples.

Eric Lim expressed his gratitude to his home country for donating materials of epidemic prevention and to the Chinese Embassy for its long-term concern and support, saying that he would continue to unite the Chinese communities in Mauritius to give full play to their own advantages and make relentless efforts to cement the friendship between the Chinese and Mauritian peoples as well as promote the well-being of the Chinese communities in Mauritius.
