Latest on Covid-19 in Mauritius

1. Till September 1, 11 imported cases have been recorded in Mauritius, with a total of 1281 people under quarantine.

2. On August 31, Mauritian Prime Minister Jugnauth made a televised address, announcing that the border will be gradually opened in three phases:

The first phase is mainly for repatriation flights which will last until September 30. It is estimated that more than 2,500 overseas Mauritian citizens will be repatriated from abroad in September.

The second phase is to allow people from certain countries and places to enter Mauritius in the following order: Mauritian citizens, residents with valid residence permits, foreign citizens with valid work visas, and tourists.

The third phase is to reopen the border. The Mauritian government will determine the specific date for reopening the border after assessing the actual situation of the Covid-19 pandemic.
