On August 9, 2021, Ambassador ZHU Liying paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Pravind JUGNAUTH. Minister-Counselor of the Embassy Mr. Gong Yufeng accompanied.

Ambassador ZHU conveyed the greetings and best wishes from President XI Jinping and Premier LI Keqiang to Prime Minister JUGNAUTH, and expressed his grateful to Mr. JUGNAUTH for leading a delegation to attend the Communist Party of China (CPC) and World Political Parties Summit online on the occasion of 100th anniversary of the founding of CPC. Ambassador ZHU said that he was honored to be the Chinese ambassador to Mauritius. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 49 years ago, the political mutual trust between the two countries has continued to deepen, and practical cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, culture, tourism, and health has yielded fruitful results. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, China and Mauritius have come to each other’s assistance and fought the pandemic together. China has overcome the difficulties of vaccine shortage and provided 3 batches of vaccine support to Mauritius in 3 months, which reflects the importance China attaches to China-Mauritius relations. Next year will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mauritius. China is willing to take this opportunity to work hand in hand with Mauritius to further deepen the traditional friendship between the two countries, expand mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation, and push bilateral friendly relations to a new level.

Prime Minister JUGNAUTH warmly welcomed Ambassador ZHU to assume his new post, and asked Ambassador ZHU to convey his gratitude and greetings to President XI Jinping and Premier LI Keqiang, and congratulated again on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. Mr. JUGNAUTH said that the Mauritian Government admires the leadership of the CPC, and also the spirit of Chinese people on forging ahead in unity. The friendship between Mauritius and China has continued to flourish, and it’s appreciated that China has provided important assistance to the economic and social development of Mauritius and also the fight against COVID-19. In the future, Mauritius is willing to work together with China to continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields for the benefit of the two countries and peoples.
