Ambassador Sun Gongyi holds a working session with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo

On 17th August, Ambassador Sun held a working session with Mr Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade. Mrs U. C. Dwarka Canabady,  Secretary For Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hurree, general director for Asian and Middle East Affairs, Mr. Bissoondoyal, Minister Counsellor for Europe, Americas and Australian Affairs, Mr. Sawmy, responable for Multilateral Economic Directorate, Mr. Boodhoo, General Director of International trade, Mr. Chen Zhihong,Political Consellor of the Chinese Embassy, Mrs Xie Yajing, Counselor for commercial affairs and Mr Song Yanqun, Cultural Counselor attended the meeting. 

Ambassador Sun said that when he previously met with the Mauritius President, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of the National Assembly and nearly20 cabinet members, he deeply felt the friendship between the Mauritian government and the People's Republic of China. Sino-Mauritian relations have always been friendly and have shown a healthy and rapid development in recent years. China and Mauritius have deepen their mutual political understanding and support each other in core interests and major concerns, and maintain a close communication and coordination in international and regional affairs. China is willing to further deepen the friendly relations between our two countries that can benefit the citizens of our two countries under the framework of "One Belt, One Road" and the framework of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Ambassador Sun also briefed each other on the progress of cooperation projects in bilateral trade, education and training, and the recent exchange activities between the two countries. 

Mr Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo spoke highly of the "One Belt, One Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum he attended in China during the month of May. He went on saying that Sino-Mauritius traditional friendship have a long history and adherence to the one-China principle would not change, also he would like to strengthen the coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side in international and regional affairs. Mauritius expressed his gratitude to China for helping Mauritius in building a modern airport, the Bagatelle Dam, the comprehensive sports center and other landmark projects, and look forward to other projects such as Jinfei Development Zone.He hopes that more Chinese enterprises will come to invest in Mauritius. Moreover, Mr Vishnu Lutchmeenaraidoo reiterated  that the Mauritian Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade will continue to provide assistance and facilitation for the work of the Chinese embassy and continue to consolidate the friendly cooperation between our two countries.       

The two sides agreed to hold working sessions each year on a regular basis, where both sides can share views on topics of common concern.
