Ambassador Sun Gongyi Meets with the Minister of Ocean Economy, Marine Resources, Fisheries and Shipping

On December 19, Ambassador Sun Gongyi paid a courtesy call to Mr. Koonjoo, Minister of Ocean Economy, Marine Resources, Fisheries and Shipping and both parties exchanged in-depth views on cooperation in the marine area. 

Ambassador Sun stated that Mauritius has rich marine resources and a promising prospect in the development of the blue economy. Both countries should step up their cooperation in the oceans so as to create a new bright spot in the friendly Sino-Mauritian cooperation. China is willing to further help Mauritius develop its marine economy through various channels so as to jointly tackle the global challenges such as climate change. 

Mr. Koonjoo thanked the Chinese government for its long-term support for Mauritius's economic and social development. Mauritius highly appreciate the Chinese government's "One Belt, One Road" initiative and is willing to further deepen cooperation with China in various fields such as blue economy, scientific research and shipping under its framework. 

Ambassador Sun also donated office equipment to the Maurtian department on behalf of the embassy. Mauritia national television, MBC, and many other local media covered the event.
