On November 5, 2020, Ambassador Sun Gongyi met with the newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of France to Mauritius, Mrs Florence Caussé-Tissier, at the Chinese Embassy.

Ambassador Sun Gongyi congratulated Mrs Florence Caussé-Tissier on her new assumption of office in Mauritius and expected to establish a good working relationship with her. He expressed hope that both sides would strengthen exchanges within the framework of Indian Ocean Commission and other regional organizations and actively explore approaches and means of cooperation. Mrs Florence Caussé-Tissier said that both France and China have historical and traditional relations with Mauritius.
