On December 12, Ambassador Sun Gongyi paid a courtesy call on Minister of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity Fazila Jeewa-Daureeawoo, and the two sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation on poverty alleviation and assistance for the disabled between China and Mauritius.

Minister Fazila Jeew-Daureeawoo highly appreciated China for its long-term assistance to Mauritius's economic and social development, and wishes to further deepen cooperation with China in the areas of poverty alleviation, protection of the rights of the disabled and the elderly, and the training of nursing staff to promote the development of related fields.

Ambassador Sun Gongyi congratulated Minister Fazila Jeew-Daureeawoo on her new appointment as minister, saying that the Chinese government attaches great importance to poverty alleviation and protection of the rights and interests of the disabled and the elderly, and has made great progress in helping the disabled to integrate into society and improve the quality of life of the elderly. China wishes to strengthen exchanges and mutual communication with other countries as well as enhance cooperation in relevant fields.
