On 6 January 2020, Ambassador Sun Gongyi paid a courtesy call on the new Minister of Public Service, Administrative and Institutional Reforms Hurdoyal, the two sides exchanged views on topics such as strengthening practical cooperation between the two countries in the training of civil servants. Commercial Counsellor Hu Ming was present at the meeting.

Ambassador Sun Gongyi congratulated Mr. Hurdoyal on assuming his new post as minister, saying that Sino-Mauritian cooperation in the field of civil service training has progressed smoothly in recent years, and that China is willing to further conduct exchange and keep contact with the Ministry of Public Service, Administrative and Institutional Reforms to deepen bilateral pragmatic cooperation.

Minister Hurdoyal expressed his gratitude towards the Chinese government for its long-term assistance to economic and social development in Mauritius, saying that as China is a traditional partner of Mauritius, Mauritius hopes to strengthen training and cooperation with China in the economic, cultural, and educational fields in the future to push bilateral relations forward.
